We began our Grand Teton experience at Mormon Row, taking in the historic buildings combined with the picturesque background. This area makes it easy to slow down and smile, which tends to be hard for me, but the Tetons prevailed. From Mormon Row we went to Jenny Lake and did the lake loop and added Hidden Falls as well as Inspiration Point. The latter areas were nice because they were slightly more secluded. Having parking lots all around Jenny Lake made for a more populated trail since people didn't have to commit to the 7+ miles to take in the scenery.
Wanting to get away from the crowds of Jennny Lake, our next day in the Tetons took us to Death Canyon where we took the trail up to the Patrol Cabin before enjoying a fantastic lunch on the water. Sitting with feet in the cool water taking in beautiful surroundings while snacking would be a new precedent here enjoyed thru the rest of the trip. What Death Canyon lacked in people it made up for with animals, including a sooty grouse with some gorgeous eyebrows. If they feel threatened they will inflate to "size up" much like a puffer fish to deter predators.
After a couple days of decent hiking and elevation gain, we did an easy hike around Colter bay on the lakeshore trail then ended up doing a scenic river tour hearing some great details regarding the geology of the area. We saw a handful of bald eagles, signs of beavers, and a young moose. The snake river provides some great vantage points of the Tetons, and I'd be lying if I said it was easy going thru the plethora of photos that were captured.
