This year I was too lazy to start everything from seed. We picked up a bunch of tomato and pepper starters from Home Depot and kept them safely in the greenhouse until the end of April. We had a surprisingly warm and wet end of the month so we transplanted everything a couple weeks earlier than usual.

Sara did mention some Boston ferns would look lovely, and I was more inclined to go with some hanging flowers. Once they were hung however, I was definitely pleased with how the ferns turned out. In addition to the starters, we have root pouch bags we did start a handful of herbs in, including: mint, basil, lavender, and chamomile. I'm hoping to actually have a decent amount of dried chamomile this year for tea (rather than just a single cup).

7/16 - Last night I almost started to complain about not having Brussel sprouts, asparagus, or another veggie (we would typically buy from the store) when making dinner, but I excitedly walked thru the garden for a deliberate harvest. We ended up having some salted snap peas as an appetizer, followed by grilled chicken and sweet million/chocolate sprinkle tomatoes with green beans and red potatoes on the side. It ended up being a great supplement to the meal, and thrilling for it to come from the garden.
Our chamomile and lavender are also coming in well enough to be harvesting and drying them out before storing. I'm thinking we'll have much more options for tea at the end of this season.

On July 24th I went cold turkey on eliminating caffeine from my diet. This has led me to incorporating more tea into routine for a replacement comfort beverage. It has also been wildly satisfying growing these herbs and making tea from them.
